 Can't program Meggy on Mac

I thought I posted this last night, but it's not here...

The USBTiny ISP programmer method works! I'm able to upload programs to the Meggy that way from both the iMac and the iBook. Hooray! We got our programming lesson in today. Very cool.

But now I'm curious as to what's wrong with the other method. I checked the schematic, and I see that the ISP and the TTL methods use different electrical paths, though I don't know enough to know what that difference *means.* Windell, you said that if the ISP method worked, it would be "very telling indeed" --- what is it telling us?

I'm happy to go the USBTiny route, but I'd love to know what I can learn from this new information.

Yes, it says a bunch of stuff. For example, that your chip is working properly, and that its power and ground and reset connections are all set up properly for it to be programmed. It's nice that this works through a different set of wires so that we can have independent confirmation that there's something wrong with the other process. At this point, it would be a good idea to try revisiting the USB-TTL method, to see if you can determine once and for all where the issue is-- without having the added stress and uncertainty of wondering about your meggy *in general*-- you may be able to narrow it down to one of those three lines, and figure out whether the problems are lurking in hardware or software.

I'm glad that I found explanations here. I was trying to figure it out my self. Good thing I found some good stuffs that would be useful, though. This will be a good place in case I will have the same problem.

and by the way Thanks for the troubleshooting list!
