Hi,

I was looking on eBay and found a seller that sells his table kit. It's a version 2.1 kit.

What is the difference over the new v3 kits? Is there a instruction manual available on the 2.1 kit?

Thanks already...

Interactive LED Panels versions 1.x and 2.x are 12x14", and are suitable for use with basically any LED color. The LEDs are distributed in a pseudo-random pattern. The panels are soldered together at the edges.

Version 3.x has 12x12" panels, and can be used only with white, blue, and (sometimes) green LEDs, but is easier to assemble. The LEDs are in an even grid. The panels hook together with easy on-off connectors.

Each of these features (size, LED types, grid versus random, connectors) has tradeoffs that could be seen to be both good or bad. Thus, 3.x isn't necessarily an upgrade-- it's just difference. For each of these, we've had requests for the other option, and after we changed, we still get requests for the other option.

We can, by special request, still get the 2.x panels, if anyone wants them.

Assembly guides for both versions are available upon request as well.

Is the LEDs "behaviour" different too? Or do they twinkle more or less the same?

If possible, could you mail me the instruction manual for the 2.1 version? Then I can have a look at it already - if I'm going to bid on the item...

My address is unitedcolorsofnoahgrey at gmail dot com.

Thanks again...

I hate to seem rude by tacking on my comment on this thread, but I would also be interested in an assembly guide for the 2.x panel. I would immensly appreciate it. Thank you so much.

Hi Windell,

I was wondering which type/brand phototransistor you are using for the LED table?

Thanks!

Chris, and any future readers of this thread who want a copy of the instructions for our kits: Please contact us through the Evil Mad Science shop contact form.

Also, we are not particularly interested in distributing old versions of our kit instructions unless there is a specific reason to do so-- if you have a specific reason to request an old version, please let us know.
