Basically "hide and seek" or a scavenger hunt, someone leaves a box hidden in the wild, with hints (or GPS coordinates) on how to find it. Usually you take something with you, to add to the box for the next person when you take the goody inside.

Geocaching doesn't seem like it was as popular as it was a few years ago. I did it a couple of times with my son and most of the places didn't have anything in them so we just ended up leaving things that we had for the next "geocacher" anyway.
