Meggy Jr.: Blue LEDs not working on three rows

So, I have my Meggy Jr. all built and am loving it! I started by programming a game of Snake as an exercise. Very cool!

I realize though, that although all 64 LEDs light up, my rows 0, 3, and 4 seem to be missing the blue in their spectrum. So, when I send a purple dot over those rows, it shows up as red. A blue dot doesn't light up anything at all in those rows, and a white dot looks yellow-green.

I'm ready to open it back up and start soldering pins again. Any idea, though, which pins are the most likely culprits? Or which chip, even?

Thanks for any insights,

--Doug.

From what you're describing, the most likely case is that the LED display unit is not fully seated in its socket-- that's the most likely thing to cause multiple unconnected rows to blank out like that. Check the instructions about how far the socket pins go onto the LED legs, and make sure that it's all the way on. I've seen a few cases where they were built-- and even used for some time-- without being fully attached.

Pins 5, 8, and 9 of U2 control those three rows (if we're using the same coordinate system)-- you might want to visually inspect those parts too.

Thanks for the tips. It turned out that I missed soldering a few pins on the LED socket. Once I went back and re-soldered all the pins everything worked great!

Thanks again!
