This may be very simple for someone but I am looking to make something very small, size of an 9V battery if possible, not including an antena.
I need help making a button that I can push that would send out a signal to light up a LED light (one another exact type of device)
AND
that same device be able to receive that signal.
any thoughts?

I'm afraid there isn't any particularly easy and cheap solution to this, but a few things can be hacked to do the job:
One way is get a tiny radio control toy-- the kind that charges on a little stand and runs for a minute-- and take the transmitter and receiver from that to do your bidding. Second option: make a little infrared light pulse detector and control it with a standard remote control.

lately i've been trying to figure out how to make a short range bluetooth transmitter to be used to computers into projectors and control them from across my house.

could this be achieved by rf? Using a rf transmitter and receiver? I'm trying to work on a project to do this, but I can't seem to find relevant schematics to build them. Seems like most of them use IR.
