Possibly stupid question from a super beginner...
Would it hurt anything if wired up a DPDT switch to JP1-4 to switch between serial and normal mode? I just got to this step in my new kit, and I CAN'T DECIDE! I know it's just two jumpers, but I'd really like to not have to unsolder and solder them again later.
Would it hurt anything if it accidentally was thrown during operation, say? I'm hoping it would just stop being functional, but I don't know if sending data with the ftdi cable would fry something if the switch was accidentally thrown.
Thanks!

Hi kyren,
It's not a stupid question at all.
You can definitely add a DPDT switch; look at the diagram to make sure that you understand how it needs to be hooked up for proper operation. It is potentially "bad" if the switch is thrown when you aren't ready for it, but I think that in practice it's not much to worry about. At absolute worst, you'd need to replace your microcontroller-- and that's unlikely.
There are also other ways to deal with this. One strategy would be to solder short wires into the locations on the board, and wire their ends together how you wanted to.
