I caught myself watching the big LED sponsor panels on the side of the soccer fields on the World Cup more than the games themselves. Just wondering, how do they work ? Didn't find any paper online. Hints ? Btw, that would be a nice article for the main page ! |

These are generally arrays of independent, color-matched single-color R, G, B, 5 mm LEDs, with LED driver chips-- one channel per LED, without multiplexing. Driving them is done brute force, with huge computer systems and huge power supplies to feed the data and current needed. It's a very expensive system. Windell H.
