my 8 panel coffee table is acting funny.
(so it can't be a "construction" issue)
there is a group of 4 leds in a single panel that are on constantly.
indicated below:

constantly is not quite the right word...
if i wave my hand over the table, ALL of the leds "pulsate" including these 4.
but otherwise, they are on all the time.
whether the room is totally dark, or very bright.

actually, i have a few groups (not the same shape) that behave like this, but the other groups are pretty dim. this group of 4 is very bright.

help!

Was this a kit that you put together, or a pre-assembled unit?

You can probably identify that the LEDs work in groups of 5. When one of them fails-- probably due to a preexisting weakness of some sort --the other four will get brighter, and so the fix is to replace that one LED with a new one.

that shortly after building my kit, i conferred with Windell about making my table "more responsive" within my glass covered coffee table.
Windell suggested changing 3 resistors per board to increase the brightness of the built-in IR LEDs. that worked very well.

don't know if that is related...
but that was almost a year ago, and the group of 4 that stays on (nearly) continuously suddenly appeared a few days ago, with "nothing changed."

Actually just coincidence that I happened to check the forum at that moment; I'd been offline (er, elsewhere online, really!) for a while today.

these are the 10 mm white LEDs, right? not the 5 mm?
(i'm about to order from you.)

The interactive panels usually come with 5 mm clear-lens LEDs, but do also work with 10 mm LEDs.
