I just finished soldering up the Diavolino kit v/voltage regulator last night. When I applied 9V to the board the LED began slowly blinking. Is this expected behavior?

It sounds like that the chip was flashed with the "blink" example program. It's not normally our policy to preload that, but it's possible that someone could have loaded "blink" to test the chip and make sure that the Arduino software was properly installed, and forgotten to wipe it when they were done.

If this is the case, it should still program normally. If you do have difficulty programming it, please say so and we'll go from there.

Interesting - my Diavolino arrived "pre-programmed" with the blink sketch too. I hoped it was a standard feature - maybe my AVR is "second hand" too!

I haven't had any problems reprogramming it though, so as you say maybe someone just tested a few of the chips and I was "lucky".

Yes, it is now a standard feature.

Good to know that others have experienced the same 'blink' on their kits as I have. Now I don't need to worry as it is working anyway. Thnx.
