Hey guys! Just read about the target board and I was stoked.... ive been waiting for something to come along like this before i start to get into avr's.

Im interested in the kit you guys have, but I just have one thing stopping me.

As a complete new-comer to the avr scene, I still dont know everything i need to to get started. Im looking for an all-in-one kit that will let me just, well, basically... plug and play. Now I know that theres dev boards out there spefically for this.... but Id really rather not spend all that money!

Would you be interested in offering a complete kit for the complete noob? In other words, your target board kit, but with a programming cable (or at least the parts to make one), and possibly a battery case/holder?

Its just that im the kind of guy that doesnt want to go to 7 websites buying parts and waiting as they come in the mail every few days . I would much rather pay a little more (or less?) to get it all in one package.


I fell in love with the Arduino because of the simplicity in getting started (I already had a small bin of parts for playing around).... and i know i would really enjoy avr's if i could just get started in one simple way.

The little kit that we have has everything that you need except the programmer, and possibly a battery box. (We're working on getting battery boxes in the store-- should be there later this week.) Will we get programmers? Maybe, but not just yet. We get ours (the USBtinyISP) from adafruit.com, already your one-stop Arduino supermarket. But.... Since you've already got an Arduino, you've also already got a programmer, don't you know: Here is the link. All you need is your arduino and six wires from it to our board. You won't even need the battery box, since you can use the 5 V output from the arduino to power the target board.

I kinda wish that the board kit included a 16MHz resonator.

Any particular reason why you want a 16 MHz oscillator? The argument against it would be that it raises the retail price...

I was thinking 16 MHz because thats what the Arduino uses.
I've got an idea or 2 that I might like to develop using an
Arduino as the development platform, but then
use a smaller board for the final implementation.
Your target board is an attractive option.

I realize you'd have to charge more, and them some people wouldn't want to pay
extra for a bit they may not need and then some other people would want 8 MHz
and then someone would complain, " A resonator isn't good enough, I want a crystal!"
at which point you throw up your hands and say, "Screw it. Let 'em buy their own
darn clock source."

I don't blame you at all for keeping it as simple as possible.
