ok so this is my second arduino/clone board. my first was the boarduino and it came out great. but when i got to the diavolino it didnt come out like i expected..

i am a noob solder'er (so i checked all my joints and they all seem like they are ok)

then i connected to 3 AA batteries (4.5V) and the LED wont come on.

i connected the ftdi cable to my laptop and still the LED wont come on

(funny thing is that the Board seems to work, i uploaded the same code i did to the boarduino and it said "done" the program( Arduino 022) actually recognized the board and i was successful at uploading a code to it. but no LED. now i would like to know why this is happening.

and yes i put the posotive lead in the square hole lol...

oh and the only thing i left out of the board was a 6-pin connection that was supposed to be in A0-A5..since i wont need it for the project i am doing...

Did you try programming the Diavolino with the Blink sketch?

i only have a 100-Ohm resistor, not 220 Ohm is that ok to use? and a 5mm LED to run the program?

Ok so i just connected the LED with the 100 Ohm resistor and the ftdi cable to the arduino and as soon as i connected the cable to the computer, the LED lit up...i pressed reset and it continues to just blink..

it goes from one blink in half a second to one second, then it turns off for another second then it turns on and dims, and it repeats itself...



ok ok, and now i put the blink code, and the LED is doing what its supposed to do...blink on and off every second...

should i desolder the stock LED and re-solder another LED, could the LED be the only problem or is there another problem?

You shouldn't need anything but the standard components included with the Diavolino kit. Just try loading the "Blink" example program, and see if it works.

I'm really not sure what you're doing here. (How did an Arduino get into this?)

My guess as to what you're actually doing: You hooked up another LED to the same output pin that goes to the LED on the board, programmed the blink sketch, and that external LED is blinking now.

If that's correct and it's also the case that the on-board LED isn't blinking, then either the LED is backwards or one of the relevant pins isn't soldered correctly: that would be the pin on the chip, one of the two resistor leads, or one of the two pins on the LED.
