Freeing up pins 2/3 on Arduino for hardware interrupt..?

Hi,

I'm building a DCF77 LED (radio) clock using an Arduino + Peggy to control 400 LEDS. For the clock-signal receiver I need to use digital pin 2 or 3 for hardware interrupt. Is it possible to attach the multiplexers to different pins and where and how can I change this?

Thanks for this project and regards!

Hmm. That's a tough one.

Those pins are pretty firmly wired in. You could potentially put the AVR or the demultiplexer up on a breakout board and rewire it from there-- that's been done for some advanced hacks.

What I have to wonder, though, is why you need to use the interrupt on one of those pins. Is there a specific reason that a (hardware) pin change interrupt on (say) PC5 or PC6 wouldn't work for this project?

Hi Windell,

Thanks for your swift reply. Yeah, I already figured it would be hard.
The timeclock-library I wanted to use works with hardware interrupts and they are only on pin 2 or 3. However, I found another library which doesn't use hardware interrupt so I'll try that first.

Thanks!

Again, those aren't the only hardware interrupts available. Depending on exactly how those interrupts are used, it might be trivial to swap it out to use a different pin.
