Hello
I bought a Peggy 2 board and upon completion had no success getting a sketch uploaded to the board. The Arduino IDE reports back
Binary sketch size: 2156 bytes (of a 30720 byte maximum)
avrdude: stk500_recv(): programmer is not responding
avrdude: stk500_recv(): programmer is not responding
So, thinking it's my ham-fisted attempts at soldering I bought a second board and tried again. This time, perfect soldering but the same error.
In Apple System Profiler.. The USB shows up as
TTL232R:
Product ID: 0x6001
Vendor ID: 0x0403 (Future Technology Devices International Limited)
Version: 6.00
Serial Number: FTFBFFVS
Speed: Up to 12 Mb/sec
Manufacturer: FTDI
Location ID: 0x24121000 / 9
Current Available (mA): 100
Current Required (mA): 90
I've un-installed and re-installed the drivers ...
So I reckon something else is not configured correctly...
Any thoughts appreciated.

It's also very important to make sure that:
- The right board type is selected in the Arduino menu (Duemilanove with '328)
- The FTDI interface shows up in the serial port list and is selected (is it?)
- The cable end is correctly oriented onto the Peggy.
- The Peggy is powered, and working correctly before programming.
You may want to reinstall the FTDI VCP Drivers

Hi Windell...
Thanks for posting ...
The Peggy 2 instructions are not overly clear on what you need to do once you have assembled the product.
I have installed the Peggy2 Library into the Arduino IDE.. ( Alpha 022 )
I am trying to Compile and then upload the peggy2_firstdemo.
Despite checking the cable orientation and that board and port are selected correctly I still get the same error..
avrdude: stk500_recv(): programmer is not responding
One thing I have noticed I did wrong .. I installed the USB connection J3 on the next door GND,CTS,USB5V,RX,TX,RTS by mistake, but they are same, right ?
I don't want to risk un-soldering until I know it will make any difference ?
Thanks for the assistance ...

It sounds like you're doing everything just right.

Despite checking the cable orientation and that board and port are selected correctly I still get the same error.. What are the settings that you have for the port?
I installed the USB connection J3 on the next door GND,CTS,USB5V,RX,TX,RTS by mistake, but they are same, right ? Yes, those are the same.
avrdude: stk500_recv(): programmer is not responding It is possible that the cable is bad. You might also consider sending the board back for us to take a look at, at this point.

Hi Windell ...
Ah some success..
I looked at my cable and using a small screwdriver pushed the exposed copper contacts
upwards as they where not aligned..
Must of been a bad contact because now I get "Done Uploading" but nothing happens...
I kind of expected it to start...
What is the next step ?
Reviewed all my joints and they look beautiful..
I've only put 4 LEDS in each corner so far just to test the board but nothing lights up..
Any thoughts... ?

First question: were the corner LEDs lighting up before you programmed it?
If not, install the "minimal" sketch, which is supposed to light up every LED, and try to figure out what's gone wrong electrically. (Are those LEDs in with the correct orientation? Chips in the right locations? Solder connections good?)

HI Windell...
That's fixed it... !!!
In my haste to fire her up I had the chips the wrong way round.
It's working a treat now.. I'm really pleased.
Thanks for those helpful pointers, without them I probably would of never of got this far.
A few lessons learnt on this project, thanks++.
