I was doing a long print the other day, left the room. My laptop (Macbook Air, OSX Lion) went to sleep due to 'inactivity' (I presume that's the reason). This canceled the print 1/4 the way though, and since it wasn't 'paused' I couldn't re-start it.

Other than having to manually adjust the 'computer sleep time' setting when I use the eggbot, or keep bumping the mouse every few minutes, is there any other smart solution people have come up with to keep long prints from stopping? The Googles isn't telling me much on this.

Yes, you'll have to disable sleep if you want to run a long job without sleeping. There are various utilities that can modify sleep behavior, too. One easy way would be to have a different setting for battery power versus plugged in power, where the plugged in one just doesn't sleep.

Alternately, you might load a utility like Caffeine, that modifies sleep behavior temporarily:

+1 on caffeine. Can't live without it. The Mac App that is -- I get by just fine with or without coffee unlike my wife who has a shirt with "instant human -- just add coffee".

Thanks guys, that app looks to be exactly what I've been needing. I've only recently switched to a mac after a lifetime (will, since the Apple back in the 80's) of PC use. Still trying to figure out its quirks
