It's a bit weird, isn't it? Maybe it's some kind of crazy compiler bug. /me shrugs

So I made a little full wave rectifier circuit today with 4 diodes, a 1000uF cap and a LM7805C 5V regulator. This is connected to the ~5VAC that is used in the general illumination circuit on the pinball table and seems to work OK:

The next step is to mount it under the plastic in the table and put the reed switch near the magnet to activate, I'll post a video once it's all finished.

I just noticed this post. Did you see the reply on the other thread? It's not a compiler bug; it was me being a bonehead. You need to declare the tick_flag as volatile:

volatile uint8_t tick_flag;

After that, you can dike out the UpdateConfig code, etc.
