hi I made a LED circuit board that has three 5mm and 3mm LEDs. I have a 9 volt battery and when I connect it,it wont turn on. I turned on the LEDs in parts but i cant turn all six together. do I need a capacitator soldered on? or more voltage?

thanks! Big Grin Big Grin

If you're using all those LEDs in series, then yes, you are probably not giving them enough voltage. With a 9-volt, they're getting an average of 1.5 volts, which might do okay for some colors, but is too low for others.

But if your circuit is more than just a loop of LEDs connected to a battery, we have little way of guessing the problem without more information.

1) Reverse the polarity of the battery.

2) Ensure all LED's are connected with the same polarity (there may be a groove on one side of the LED bulb to indicate the polarity). LEDS are just diodes, if even one LED is connected backwards it will prevent the flow of current in that branch, so if you have them in series none would work.

3) If you have them in parallel 9V may be too much and will or may have already fried your LED's.
